31st birthday

Recently, I celebrated my 31st birthday. I love birthdays- always have! We celebrated with my family the night before my birthday. We cooked out at my parents house with my parents, my cousin, and Grandmary. The girls had a blast- they were wired and did not go to bed until after 9 pm. The morning of my birthday, Ford woke me up and brought breakfast in bed and the girls. After breakfast in bed, Sarah Lawrence came over that morning and brought donuts so we were all on a sugar high. :) I went to a flower arranging class at church with friends, which was fun. The girls and I went to lunch with my mom, Grandmother, and Sarah Lawrence at Cheffie's. The night of my birthday, Ford and I went downtown. Before we left for our date, his parents stopped by, which was fun. Then we started our night. We went up to his office for a minute (my first time), then we walked downtown around Main and ended up at Flight for dinner. We loved Flight- it was delicious. Really enjoyed the concept of Flight. After dinner, we walked to the top of the Madison, which was fun and so pretty! Thursday night, a group of girls went to eat at Ciao Bella for me, Brittany, and Nell's birthday. It was a great night with friends. Here are some pics!

This seems weird to put on a blog but since all of like 3 people know that I even have this blog, I want to put it on there so I can always remember it. Ford knows how much I love flowers, and it is always such a joy to me when he brings me flowers. He always brings them unarranged so that I get to arrange them. It is a really special thing he does for me.

July 4, 2014

We had a great July 4th this year! One of my favorite holidays to celebrate with the cove is July 4th. Our neighbors, the Delany's, go all out. This year we all rented a big water slide for the kids. We were able to use the slide on July 3 and I went down the slide with both the girls. Surprisingly, Sally wanted to go on the slide much more than Mary Kate did. Mary Kate and I slid down the slide once and she was finished. Sal and I slide down and the first time we went down, she and I both landed in the freezing cold water. It was CHILLY! (it was also only around 73 degrees that night). But Sal and I still went down a few more times.
The morning of July 4, we participated in the neighborhood parade, which was great. Then the cove had a big cookout and everyone went down the waterslide. The Husbands, the Thompsons, the Jussleys, the Hills, and the Johnstons were able to over for the cove party. We had popsicles, watermelon, hotdogs, and lots of desserts. It was a lot of fun.
Around 12:30, we came inside, bathed the girls (because they were sticky from popsilces and wet from the baby pool), and left for Columbus, MS around 1:30 for Grandmda Dot's 95th birthday. Thankfully the girls slept on the way down there. We had a great time at the party. It was fun to see everyone and great to celebrate 95 years. What an accomplishment! The way home from Columbus was hard. Sal couldn't get comfortable and couldn't fall asleep but it was still worth the trip. SO thankful the girls get to know their great grandmother. The rest of the weekend, we cooked out a couple of times with friends and just recovered from July 4.

The girls understood more of what a birthday means now that they have had one of their own. They said they wanted a "prize" (present).

This was not July 4 but I thought it was sweet. I think it is suppose to be a hug. :)
